PROJECT BACKGROUND

INDONESIA is a vast land of 17,000 islands, stretching 3 time zones from India all the way to Australia and the 4th most populous nation in the World. It is an archipelagic nation richly bestowed with natural resources, an enormous domestic market and a huge maritime potential. Because of geographical width East to West, the Indonesian Islands form a natural maritime boundary between North Asia and Australasia. Maritime traffic seeking the shortest North – South sea routes between these continents needs to transit through Indonesian waters.
PT. SULAWESI BUNKER TERMINAL is one of the first independent fuel suppliers now fully licensed and approved to provide an International Standard Bunker Service to ships in transit, and will start with a floating storage and bunker supply operation located in Donggala, near Palu, Central Sulawesi, on the Makassar Strait.
The Makassar Strait lies between the islands of Borneo and Sulawesi, and is a major IMO designated ASL / Archipelagic Sea Lane. It is a main sea route for vessels sailing between North China, Japan, Korea & Taiwan and the Western and South Coasts of Australia. It is commonly referred to as ALKI II, as shown below.
